Breath test may reveal hidden lung damage
NCT ID NCT03241420
First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a noninvasive breathing test called the lung clearance index (LCI) can detect early signs of small airways disease in adults with chronic lung conditions like asthma or fibrosis. Researchers will compare results from 300 patients with lung disease to 300 healthy volunteers. The goal is to see if LCI is a sensitive marker for small airway problems, which could lead to earlier diagnosis and monitoring.
