New hope for Tough-to-Treat lung cancer: trial tests combo to overcome treatment resistance

Summary

This study tested whether adding an investigational pill called sitravatinib to an immunotherapy drug (nivolumab) works better than standard chemotherapy (docetaxel) for people with advanced non-squamous lung cancer. It involved 577 patients whose cancer had worsened despite receiving both platinum-based chemotherapy and a prior immunotherapy treatment. The goal was to see if the new combination could help control the cancer longer and help patients live longer.
