Hope for the frailest: immunotherapy trial targets tough lung cancer cases
NCT ID NCT04221529
Summary
This study tested whether adding the immunotherapy drug atezolizumab to standard chemotherapy (carboplatin and etoposide) is safe and effective for people with advanced small cell lung cancer who are in poor overall health. It involved 70 participants who were too frail for most other trials, aiming to see if this combination could help them live longer. The goal was to gather crucial data to see if this approach should move to a larger, definitive study for this vulnerable group.
