New combo therapy trial aims to stall aggressive lung cancer

Summary

This study is testing if a targeted drug called brigatinib works better alone or when combined with two chemotherapy drugs for people with advanced lung cancer that has a specific genetic change (ALK-positive). About 110 patients who haven't had treatment for their advanced cancer will be assigned to receive one of the two treatment plans. The main goal is to see if the combination can keep the cancer from growing for at least 12 months in more patients.
