Double transplant offers hope for patients with two failing systems

NCT ID NCT03500731

Summary

This early-phase study is testing a new, two-step transplant procedure for people who have both severe, end-stage lung disease and bone marrow failure. Doctors will first perform a lung transplant to improve breathing, followed by a bone marrow transplant from the same donor to try to restore healthy blood cell production. The goal is to see if this combined approach is safe and can help patients who are too sick for a standard lung transplant alone.
