New filler takes on juvederm for wrinkle reduction

NCT ID NCT06509477

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether a new dermal filler called Lunaphil Ultra works as well as the established Juvederm Ultra 4 for treating moderate to severe nasolabial folds (smile lines). 104 adults received one filler on one side of the face and the other on the opposite side, with results measured by wrinkle severity and aesthetic improvement. The goal was to see if Lunaphil Ultra is a safe and effective alternative.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Hyaluronic acid dermal filler (Lunaphil Ultra or Juvederm Ultra 4)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that Lunaphil Ultra is a safe and effective alternative to Juvederm for reducing deep smile lines.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed equivalency study, not a large phase 3 trial. Results may not apply to all skin types or other wrinkles, and individual results vary.
