First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests whether switching from solid fuels (like wood or coal) to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and adding kitchen ventilation can reduce harmful indoor air pollution and improve heart and lung health. About 1,200 adults who cook daily will be placed into four groups: some keep their usual cooking method, some get LPG stoves, some get ventilation fans, and some get both. Researchers will measure air pollution levels and changes in heart rate and lung function over time.
