Surprise finding: light weights build muscle just as well as heavy weights
NCT ID NCT07412600
Summary
This study tested whether lifting light weights until muscles tire builds muscle size and strength as effectively as lifting heavy weights in young men new to training. Researchers compared two groups doing leg exercises for 6 weeks—one using light weights (30% of max) and one using heavy weights (75% of max). They found both approaches produced similar muscle growth and strength gains when performed to the point of muscle failure.
