First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated Jun 08, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a common antioxidant, alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), can help people hospitalized for a sudden worsening of COPD (a lung disease). Researchers will compare a low dose (600 mg) to a high dose (1200 mg) and a placebo, given alongside standard care. The goal is to see if ALA reduces inflammation and oxidative stress, and helps patients recover faster. The study plans to enroll 75 adults aged 40-70.
