Gentle breathing during heart surgery may protect lungs
NCT ID NCT07067684
Summary
This study tested whether keeping gentle breathing support on during heart surgery helps preserve diaphragm muscle movement and reduces lung complications afterward. Researchers compared 60 adults having elective coronary artery bypass surgery, giving some gentle breathing support and others the standard pause in breathing during the procedure. They used ultrasound to measure diaphragm movement and tracked recovery factors like time on a breathing machine and lung complications.
