Can less radiation still soothe heel spur pain?
NCT ID NCT07546240
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing whether a lower dose of radiation can relieve pain from heel spurs just as well as the standard dose. About 366 adults with chronic heel pain that hasn't improved with other treatments will receive one of three radiation schedules. The goal is to find a gentler option that still works.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
low-dose radiation therapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a less intense radiation option that still provides significant pain relief for people with stubborn heel spur pain.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-sized trial testing a well-known treatment, so the main risk is that the lower dose may not be as effective as the standard dose. Radiation also carries small long-term risks, though doses here are very low.
