New iron formula may offer better anemia relief after gastric sleeve surgery

NCT ID NCT07366502

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 14, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a low-dose liposomal iron supplement works better and causes fewer stomach issues than the standard high-dose iron pills for people with iron deficiency anemia after sleeve gastrectomy. About 70 adults who had this weight-loss surgery at least 6 months ago will take either the new liposomal iron or conventional iron for 24 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in hemoglobin and iron levels to see which approach is more effective and easier to tolerate.
