Could a simple switch in medical dye prevent a painful complication?

NCT ID NCT07391787

Summary

This study looked back at nearly 4,000 patients who had a procedure called ERCP to treat bile or pancreas problems. Researchers wanted to see if using a contrast dye with a more neutral acidity (pH) during the procedure could lower the chance of developing painful pancreatitis afterward. They compared the outcomes for patients who received different types of commonly used dyes to find out if one was safer.
