Brief therapy may offer Long-Term protection against relapse
NCT ID NCT07522775
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study followed 806 Hong Kong adults who had received low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (LICBT) for common mental disorders like depression and anxiety. Researchers checked their mental health every 6 months for up to 4 years to see if improvements lasted. The goal was to understand how well this brief therapy prevents relapse over the long term.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (LICBT)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that brief therapy helps people with common mental disorders stay well longer and avoid relapse.
What could go wrong
This is an observational follow-up, not a new treatment test. Results may not apply to all groups, and relapse rates could still be high.
