New shot could ease back surgery pain for days, cut opioid need

NCT ID NCT07171125

Summary

This study is testing a new long-acting numbing medicine (liposomal bupivacaine) for pain relief after major back surgery. Researchers will compare it to the standard numbing medicine to see if it provides better pain control for up to 3 days and reduces the need for strong opioid painkillers. The trial will include 204 adults having planned back surgery.
