New eye study aims to spot hidden risk before cataract surgery

NCT ID NCT07549711

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at a condition called long anterior zonules (LAZ), where tiny fibers in the eye grow too far forward. LAZ can raise the risk of glaucoma and problems during cataract surgery. Researchers will use special 3D imaging and genetic tests to better understand LAZ in 600 people with cataracts. The goal is to improve diagnosis and help doctors plan safer treatments.
