New shot aims to stop surgery pain from becoming a long-term problem

NCT ID NCT07289178

Summary

This study is testing whether a special, long-acting numbing medicine injected near the nerves of the chest can better control pain after a mastectomy. Researchers want to see if this approach not only reduces immediate pain but also lowers the chances of patients developing chronic pain that lasts for months. They will compare the new numbing shot against standard pain control methods in 120 women undergoing surgery.
