Can old drugs help kidney patients control blood pressure?

Summary
This study looks at whether low doses of two common blood pressure drugs, spironolactone and chlorthalidone, can safely lower blood pressure in people with moderate to advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD). About 160 US veterans with CKD and high blood pressure will take one or both drugs for up to 12 weeks. The goal is to find a safe and effective way to manage blood pressure in this group.
