Common numbing drug tested as potential weapon against aggressive breast cancer

NCT ID NCT07458204

Summary

This study is testing if injecting a common local anesthetic (levobupivacaine) around the tumor and nearby nerves before breast-conserving surgery can help prevent the cancer from coming back. It will involve 760 women with triple-negative breast cancer, a type known for a higher risk of recurrence. The main goal is to see if this simple addition to surgery improves the chance of being cancer-free two years later.
