First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at whether storing a breathing tube (laryngeal mask airway) at a cold temperature (10-12°C) versus room temperature (22-25°C) could reduce sore throat after surgery. 172 adults having planned surgery under general anesthesia took part. Researchers checked for sore throat, cough, and trouble swallowing at several times up to 24 hours after the operation.
