New breathing tube aims to make complex scans safer

NCT ID NCT07182786

Summary

This study tested a new airway device called the LMA Gastro, designed for patients undergoing a complex stomach and bile duct scan called an ERCP. The goal was to see if this device could better prevent dangerous drops in oxygen and rises in carbon dioxide during the procedure, compared to standard sedation or breathing tubes. Researchers randomly assigned 50 adult patients to receive either the new device or standard care to compare safety and effectiveness.
