New shot aims to cut need for blood during liver transplants
NCT ID NCT07169643
Summary
This study is testing if a monthly injection called darbepoetin can safely reduce the need for blood transfusions during liver transplant surgery. It will involve 140 adults on the liver transplant waiting list who have low red blood cell counts. Half will receive the monthly injections, and half will not, to compare outcomes during and after surgery.
