Could a simple scan predict future diabetes risk for new moms?

NCT ID NCT04362540

Summary

This study aims to understand if having fat in the liver (detected by ultrasound) during pregnancy is a sign that a woman's blood sugar control might worsen after giving birth. Researchers will follow 189 women who had gestational diabetes, measuring markers of insulin resistance 6-12 weeks postpartum. The goal is to identify a simple marker that could help doctors know which women need closer follow-up and lifestyle support to prevent future type 2 diabetes.
