Doctors search liver tissue for hidden parasite clues

NCT ID NCT06316154

Summary

This study aims to learn more about a parasitic liver disease called echinococcosis. Researchers will examine small pieces of liver tissue taken during surgery from 100 patients with large cysts. The goal is to see if tiny, potentially active parts of the parasite are left behind near the cyst wall, which might help explain why the disease sometimes comes back after surgery.
