First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests a combined pump and catheter system that delivers chemotherapy directly to the liver in adults with colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver or with bile duct cancer. The main goal is to see if the device is safe. About 100 participants will have the pump implanted and be monitored for up to 5 years.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Medtronic SynchroMed II pump connected to an Intera tapered catheter (device) delivering FUDR chemotherapy

What this could lead to

If this device proves safe and effective, it could offer a more targeted way to deliver chemotherapy to liver tumors, potentially reducing side effects and improving tumor control.

What could go wrong

This is an early safety study with no control group, so it cannot prove the device works better than standard treatment. There are risks from surgery, the pump, and the catheter connection.
