New technique shields healthy liver during cancer radiation

NCT ID NCT06229080

Summary

This study tested a technique to protect healthy liver tissue during a radiation treatment called Y90 radioembolization for liver cancer. Researchers used temporary, dissolving particles to block blood flow to healthy areas, aiming to direct more radiation to the tumor while sparing normal liver function. The trial involved 20 adults with liver cancer to see if this approach was safe and effective.
