First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This observational study looks at how much mental energy children aged 6-18 with cochlear implants use when listening, and whether that extra effort affects their brain development, social skills, and quality of life over three years. Researchers will compare 240 children with cochlear implants to 120 children with normal hearing using safe, non-invasive brain and eye tracking tests. The study does not involve any new treatment or change to current care.
