Shining a light on ICU infections: can a simple nasal treatment save lives?

NCT ID NCT06867458

Summary

This pilot study tested whether a special light treatment applied inside the nose could help prevent dangerous infections like pneumonia in patients staying in the intensive care unit (ICU). The study enrolled 227 adult ICU patients to see if the treatment was practical to use and to gather early data on whether it reduced infection rates. The main goal was to determine if a larger, more definitive trial of this approach would be feasible.
