Scientists zap gum disease with light and tiny nanoparticles
NCT ID NCT07316023
Summary
This study is testing a new light-based treatment for advanced gum disease (periodontitis). Researchers want to see if packaging a special dye inside tiny, biodegradable nanoparticles makes the treatment more effective at killing harmful bacteria than using the dye alone. The treatment is given after a standard deep cleaning and uses a gentle laser to activate the dye, aiming to reduce infection and inflammation without surgery.
