Can a light helmet boost brain power in kids with sickle cell?

NCT ID NCT06797583

Summary

This study aims to learn if a non-invasive light therapy, aimed at the forehead, can improve thinking skills and oxygen use in the brains of children with sickle cell disease. Researchers will enroll 60 children, aged 8-17, who will be randomly assigned to receive either the real light treatment or a placebo. The main goals are to see if the study is practical and acceptable to families, and to check for any side effects, while also measuring changes in brain oxygen and cognitive test performance.
