First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study tested whether using lidocaine instead of opioids during anesthesia induction can prevent low blood pressure in adults undergoing emergency abdominal surgery. 149 patients were randomly assigned to receive either lidocaine-based or opioid-based anesthesia. The goal was to see which approach leads to fewer blood pressure drops right after starting anesthesia.
