Summary

This study tested whether giving lidocaine or dexmedetomidine during a bile-duct procedure (ERCP) helps prevent confusion and memory problems in patients 65 and older. Thirty elderly participants received one of the two medicines through an IV during surgery. The goal was to see which drug better protects brain function after the procedure.
