Numbing spray tested to ease breathing tube discomfort in surgery

NCT ID NCT07154628

Summary

This study is testing if spraying a numbing medicine called lidocaine on the vocal cords before placing a breathing tube can make robotic surgery more comfortable. It aims to reduce the pain, blood pressure spikes, and sore throat that can happen when the tube is inserted. The trial will compare the spray to a harmless saltwater spray in 80 adults having elective robotic surgery.
