Surgery breakthrough: simple mist could save lungs

NCT ID NCT07000760

Summary

This study tested whether inhaling a mist containing lidocaine during surgery could reduce serious lung complications afterward. Researchers enrolled 270 adults having major abdominal surgery to compare those receiving the lidocaine mist versus standard care. The goal was to see if this approach could lower infection rates, shorten hospital stays, and improve recovery by reducing lung inflammation.
