First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving lidocaine before placing a breathing tube can reduce sore throat after surgery. 100 adults having gallbladder surgery were split into two groups: one received lidocaine, the other a placebo. Throat pain was checked at several points after surgery. The goal was to see if lidocaine helps prevent this common side effect of general anesthesia.
