Licorice gel fights gum disease in new study
NCT ID NCT07422883
First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tested whether a licorice extract gel could improve gum health when used alongside standard deep cleaning in people with stage II periodontitis. Fifty adults received the gel applied to their gum pockets twice a week for six weeks. Researchers measured gum pocket depth and levels of a key inflammation marker (interleukin-6) to see if the gel helped control the disease.
