Early trial tests blood pressure drug for brain energy in dementia

NCT ID NCT04760860

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether a medication called terazosin is safe and tolerable for people with Lewy body dementia. Researchers will enroll 40 participants to receive either the drug or a placebo for 12 weeks, primarily checking for side effects and drop-out rates. The study also aims to see if the drug can improve brain energy levels, which are often low in this type of dementia, but it is not designed to prove if the drug improves thinking or movement symptoms.
