New drug duo targets Tough-to-Treat leukemia

NCT ID NCT01869114

Summary

This study tested whether combining two drugs, sirolimus and azacitidine, could help control high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in adults. The trial enrolled 57 patients whose cancer had returned or who could not tolerate standard high-dose chemotherapy. Researchers aimed to see if the combination was safe and more effective at stopping cancer growth than previous treatments.
