Baking soda in numbing shot aims to take the sting out of hand surgery

NCT ID NCT05328180

Summary

This study is testing if mixing a common baking soda solution with a numbing medicine makes the injection for carpal tunnel surgery less painful. Researchers are comparing the pain experienced by 116 patients receiving either the standard numbing shot or the buffered version. The main goal is to see if this simple additive can reduce the burning, pressure, and sting felt during the injection and improve the overall surgery experience.
