Calming scents battle Kids' dental fear

NCT ID NCT07367594

Summary

This study is testing whether smelling lavender or bitter orange essential oils can help reduce fear and pain in children getting a numbing shot at the dentist. About 26 children, aged 6 to 12, will be randomly assigned to smell one of the oils or a placebo before their injection. Researchers will measure the children's heart rate, blood pressure, and pain behavior to see which scent, if any, works better as a simple, drug-free calming method.
