Laser vs. balloon: race to save limbs from amputation

NCT ID NCT06777901

Summary

This study is testing if using a laser device (the Auryon Atherectomy System) along with a standard balloon procedure is better than the balloon procedure alone for treating severe blockages in the lower leg arteries. It aims to see if the combined approach is more effective at preventing amputations, keeping arteries open, and avoiding the need for repeat procedures. Researchers will compare the two methods in about 224 patients with critical limb ischemia, a severe form of poor leg circulation.
