Laser light plus peroxide shows promise for implant gum disease

NCT ID NCT07287956

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested whether a special light-activated treatment (oxygen high-level laser therapy) added to standard cleaning could improve gum health around dental implants. Sixteen adults with gum infections around at least two implants received the laser treatment with hydrogen peroxide on one implant and laser alone on the other. Researchers measured gum inflammation, pocket depth, and bacteria levels to see if the combined approach worked better.
