Laser zaps tendons: can light change tissue structure?
NCT ID NCT07817368
First seen Sep 14, 2026 · Last updated Sep 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
Researchers test whether high-intensity laser therapy changes tendon thickness and blood vessel growth in healthy university students. Participants receive laser treatment at one of three power settings or a placebo, twice a week for four weeks. Ultrasound and Doppler imaging measure tendon structure and vascularization before and during the study. The goal is to see if different laser powers affect tendon tissue in healthy people.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- high-intensity laser therapy (HILT)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could show how laser power settings affect tendon structure and blood flow, which may inform future tendon treatments.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small study in healthy young adults, so results may not apply to older people or those with tendon injuries. Laser therapy can cause discomfort or skin reactions, and the study may find no meaningful changes.
