Shining a light on gum disease: laser therapy aims to zap harmful bacteria

NCT ID NCT07080762

Summary

This study tested whether adding a special laser light treatment could improve results for people with severe gum disease. After a standard deep cleaning, researchers applied a light-activated gel to the gums and then used a laser to try to kill leftover harmful bacteria. The goal was to see if this extra step led to healthier gums and fewer bacteria compared to cleaning alone.
