Laser pointer boosts back surgery recovery in new trial

NCT ID NCT07382830

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study compares two types of exercise programs for people recovering from lumbar microdiscectomy (a common back surgery). One group does standard stabilization exercises, while the other uses a laser pointer to guide their movements with visual feedback. The goal is to see if the laser-guided approach improves pain, disability, balance, and muscle endurance better than standard exercises alone. The trial involves 42 adults aged 18-65, with supervised sessions three times a week for eight weeks.
