Summary

This phase 3 trial tests two chemotherapy strategies to preserve larynx function in 256 patients with advanced larynx or hypopharynx cancer. One group gets induction chemo (TPF) followed by radiation; the other gets radiation with cisplatin. The main goal is to see which approach better avoids death, total laryngectomy, or tracheotomy within 2 years.
