Implanted 'Pacemaker' could help paralyzed vocal cords let people breathe

NCT ID NCT06007144

Summary

This study tested a new implanted device called the SPIRION Laryngeal Pacemaker in people with both vocal cords paralyzed. The goal was to see if the device was safe and if it could improve breathing by electrically stimulating a throat muscle to open the airway. Participants were followed for up to two years after getting the implant, but the study was stopped early.
