Heart plug tested to stop strokes in AFib patients

NCT ID NCT05224375

Summary

This study tested a small implant device designed to seal off a pouch in the heart called the left atrial appendage. The goal was to see if this device could safely reduce the risk of stroke in people with a common heart rhythm problem (atrial fibrillation) who cannot take long-term blood-thinning medications. The trial involved 29 participants who were followed for one year after the implant procedure.
