New heart device aims to cut stroke risk for those who can't take blood thinners

Summary
This study is for people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) who are at high risk of stroke but cannot take blood thinners. The LambrE device is implanted to close off a small pouch in the heart where clots often form. Researchers will track 220 patients to see how well the device prevents strokes, blood clots, and other heart problems over time.
