New heart plug aims to cut stroke risk without blood thinners

NCT ID NCT07385599

First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This early study tests a new device (LAmbre II) that plugs a small pouch in the heart called the left atrial appendage. In people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat), this pouch can form blood clots that cause strokes. The device is placed during a minimally invasive procedure, aiming to seal the pouch and reduce stroke risk. The study involves 10 participants who cannot take long-term blood thinners, and doctors will check if the device is safe and works well.
